Somatic Experience Therapy is a holistic approach to healing that recognizes the intimate connection between mind and body. Founded by Peter Levine, Somatic Experience focuses on regulating the nervous system, balancing the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches, to heal past traumas and create more resiliency.

Somatic therapy helps regulate the nervous systems by releasing stored tension and trauma held in the body. In a safe container with the therapist, clients become more aware of bodily sensations and their link to past memories. They then are guided into a parasympathetic state so that the body can experience a newfound connection to healing.
