“Art that arises out of the inner landscape, and is connected to our lived experience,
illuminates the darkness and heals the soul.”

Expressive Arts Therapy

CREATIVE PATHWAYS TO HEALING

  • I utilize expressive arts therapy to tap into the potential for healing through creative expression that resides within each of us. This integrative approach can weave various art forms—such as visual arts, music, movement, and drama—to facilitate personal exploration and emotional expression. Through these modalities, clients can access feelings and experiences that may be unconscious or difficult to articulate verbally, allowing for a clearer understanding of themselves and their unique narratives.

  • Clients are invited to explore their inner worlds intuitively and non-judgmentally, aligning with the principles of depth psychotherapy. We recognize that self-discovery often occurs beyond the confines of linear thinking and traditional verbal expression. Working in this way, we can often access deeper layers of consciousness, leading to breakthroughs in self-awareness to uncover insights about emotions, relationships, and underlying patterns and themes. With this awareness, expressive arts therapy can help clients reclaim their voices and narratives, yielding a more profound connection to their authentic selves.

      • Emotional Expression: Engaging in creative activities allows us to express complex emotions in a supportive environment, facilitating emotional release and processing.

      • Increased Self-Discovery: We use subconscious processes via art-making to uncover hidden aspects of Self and gain new awareness.

      • Non-Verbal Communication: Expressive arts provide an alternative means of communication, to find new ways to explore experiences and express emotions more fully.

      • Integrated Healing: This approach makes space for the mind, body, and spirit to dialogue by integrating all facets of creative expression.
