“Love is at once an affirmation and a transcendence of who we are.”

Intimacy & Attachment

CULTIVATING DEEPER CONNECTION

  • Our work aims to unravel the complex layers of relational experiences, identifying patterns that may have impacted or hindered fulfilling connections. We explore the multifaceted nature of intimacy, encompassing emotional and physical dimensions. By understanding these dynamics in their fullness we seek to create shifts in how we form and sustain intimate relationships.

  • Family dynamics and early relational experiences significantly shape our views, behaviors, and attachment styles. Exploring these dynamics helps to illuminate how early relationships influence current attachment styles, providing a framework for understanding relational blueprints. This exploration is not just about gaining insight; it involves processing and grieving past experiences to heal and make room for change.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) provides a powerful framework for understanding and negotiating various parts of yourself that influence your relationships. Somatic work can be used to gain awareness in how we have been shaped by earlier experiences and help us heal, finding more self-regulation and capacity to engage with complex emotions that can arise in relationships.

  • The therapeutic relationship itself can provide a uniquely reparative opportunity to experience secure attachment. An authentic, consistent, empathetic, and supportive therapeutic alliance can transform deeply held beliefs about what is possible in relationships and serve as a model for newfound interactions outside of therapy. The living example of healthy interaction and attachment helps to reshape both beliefs about ourselves and our relational patterns.
